His fusion of classical music, ambient electronica and minimalistic techno has made Fernando Corona, a.k.a. Murcof,
one of the most recognised artists in experimental electronic music
today. His unique cross-over sound is a perfect match for the French Infiné label, and one can only imagine label boss Agoria very happy to be finally able to release an album by the Mexican artist. 'La Sangre Iluminada'
is actually a film score, originally composed for the eponymous motion
picture directed by Ivan Duenas in 2009, but has been re-edited for
its album release and remastered by Dubplates & Mastering's Rashad
Becker. Its 20 tracks mainly explore dark and foreboding moods, with
sustained piano chords, ethereal drones, and occasional micro rhythms
setting the tone.
Murcof fans have been waiting since 2007 for the continuation of his 'official' series of solo albums - previous full-lengths 'Martes, 'Utopía', 'Remembranza', and 'Cosmos' have spelled out 'MURC' with their first letters, so 'O' and 'F' are still missing. 'La Sangre Iluminada' is an excellent album by itself however, and much more than a quick fix to shorten the wait.
